The Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility hosts the event City of Cities in partnership with Van Alen Institute.
Like many great places, New York is a city of cities: It is constantly in flux, its population ever-changing. Each day over one and a half million workers commute into Manhattan, and of New Yorkers, one in three is foreign born. In a medley of music, conversation, and performance we’ll reflect on New York’s pulsating population, exploring both the conditions that shape its tidal surges and the personal narratives that result from increased mobility and migration.
Performances by: Author Yelena Akhtiorskaya, architect Teddy Cruz, comedian Hari Kondabolu, WNYC Talkshow Host Brian Lehrer, and American Balkan brass/jazz band Slavic Soul Party, and more.
WNYC, Archinect and Platform for Pedagogy are partners of this event.
