This public workshop reflects on art practices as a space for repair, community building, and remaking migration narratives. Artists and organizers Cinthya Santos Briones, Maggie Loredo, and Maru Ponce will discuss different art projects related to embroidery, photography, documentation, and archives created in migration contexts, and how principles of narrative practices come together when working with people in mobility. Following a conversation with the artists, each participant will have the opportunity to participate in one of two workshops that will include photoembroidery and cyanotype photography. Materials will be included. Please register so we can plan for the materials.
This event is part of the program New Narratives of Migration: Transformative Pedagogies and Practices for the Classroom and Beyond, organized by Alexandra Délano Alonso and the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility.
