Donald Trump’s successful quest for the Presidency had much to do with his virulent attacks on immigrants and refugees.  Since taking office, he has made immigration a central focus of his Administration. He has imposed the Muslim Travel Ban, ended DACA, adopted a “Zero Tolerance Policy” at the border that separated hundreds of children from their parents, sought billions of dollars in appropriations for a border wall, taken action to punish Sanctuary cities, and cut refugee admissions by more than half.

Will the issue of immigration be a significant factor in the 2018 election? How will voters respond to candidates supporting the Trump Administration policies? How have the media covered immigration issues during the campaign? Will the Trump policies affect Hispanic voter turnout? Has the Democratic Party provided a coherent and persuasive response to Trump policies?

The Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility is pleased to host an important conversation on these issues with Alexandra Delano, Associate Professor and Chair of Global Studies at The New School, and Roberto Suro, Professor in the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and the School of Policy, Planning and Development at the University of Southern California.  Alex Aleinikoff, Director of the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility, will moderate the discussion. Lunch will be provided.

**This is event will be livestreamed for the general public via the Zolberg Institute Facebook page. However, due to space limitations, only New School students, faculty and staff may attend in person.
