The Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility at The New School and the Centre for International Governance Innovation are pleased to invite you to a presentation on the World Refugee Council’s (WRC) report: A Call To Action: Transforming the Global Refugee System.

Led by Canada’s former Foreign Minister, The Honourable Lloyd Axworthy, the WRC report contains actionable recommendations to transform the refugee and IDP systems, with a focus on four key areas: political will, responsibility sharing, financing, and accountability.

The WRC was established in May 2017 by the Centre for International Governance Innovation with the political and financial support of the Government of Canada to identify, develop and propose approaches, mechanisms and instruments to address the structural challenges facing the refugee and IDP systems. The Council is comprised of an independent group of global leaders and innovators aimed at advancing new solutions to the global refugee crisis. In addition to The Honourable Lloyd Axworthy, the event will include remarks from Zolberg Institute Director T. Alexander Aleinikoff, WRC Councillors Dr. Elizabeth Ferris, Devota Nuwe, Senator Ratna Omidvar and Deputy Head of UNHCR New York Office, Richard Towle.

We kindly ask that you register. Lunch will be served, and please note any dietary restrictions upon registration. This event will also be livestreamed. If you are unable to attend in person, you may watch online by following the Zolberg Institute Facebook page.

If you have any questions regarding the launch event, please do not hesitate to reach out to Liliana Araujo, WRC Project Manager at laraujo@cigionline.org.
