Our final talk in the NSSR Sociology Lecture Series will be presented by Cecilia Menjivar (Arizona State University) entitled, “Legal Violence: Consequences of Immigration Regime for Immigrants’ Lives.”

Cecilia Menjívar is the Cowden Distinguished Professor in the T. Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics at Arizona State University. Her research has centered on two areas: immigration from Central America to the United States and violence in Latin America. Some of Menjívar’s publications include the award-winning books, Fragmented Ties: Salvadoran Immigrant Networks in America(University of California Press, 2000) and Enduring Violence: Ladina Women’s Everyday Lives in Guatemala (University of California Press, 2011).
