Client Responsiveness Data Analysis Fellow

Role: The purpose of this fellowship is twofold: (1) the Data Analyst will lead a comprehensive review of existing training materials on data quality (Foundations of Data Literacy), analysis, and interpretations to identify gaps in the existing training materials and conduct KIIs with the country program and regional staff on their training needs and gaps. Based on this, the Data Analysts will develop a proposal on how to improve training approaches for different target audiences at the IRC country and regional level; (2) based on the completed analysis, the Data Analyst will develop live training and coaching materials and ToTs to support effective use of existing resources and introduce new ones as per gaps identified. To ensure the quality and relevance of the training and coaching materials, the candidate will conduct 3-5 pilots of this type of training and document the process and learnings, and finalize the ToTs for MEAL teams at the country and regional levels. To collect practical examples and scenarios for the training materials, Data Analyst will have access to the MEAL qualitative and quantitative data and dashboards that are used by country teams across IRC programs in Asia, East Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, MENA, and Latin America regions. The candidate will work closely with the Client Responsiveness Technical Specialist and engage with colleagues from the country programs, regional measurement teams, and technical units. The Data Analysis will play a critical role in strengthening IRC approach to build data analysis and interpretation skills for IRC staff across the regions.
The candidate should have good analytical skills, knowledge of statistical methods and sampling techniques, they should have experience in developing training materials or curricula tailored to different audiences. Experience with web-based applications for data collection and visualization (ex. Kobo, ComCare, PowerApps, PowerBI, similar tools) is a plus. English language is required, proficiency in French, Arabic or Spanish is a plus.
Potential deliverables:
- Comprehensive Review Report: A detailed report identifying gaps in existing training materials on data quality, analysis, and interpretation, along with a proposal for improvements tailored to different target audiences.
- Improved Training Materials: Development of enhanced training and coaching materials based on the identified gaps, ensuring they are relevant and effective for various audiences and include practical examples and scenarios.
- Training of Trainers (ToT) Programs: Creation of ToT programs to equip MEAL Focal Points and Regional Measurement Advisors with the skills to train others effectively.
- Pilot Training Sessions: Conducting 3-5 pilot training sessions to test the new materials, documenting the process, feedback, and learnings.
- Finalized Training Materials: Refinement and finalization of training and coaching materials based on pilot feedback, ensuring they are ready for broader implementation.
Potential travel involved: No travel will be involved for this position.

Requirements: Students must be a matriculated graduate or Ph.D. student at The New School. Fellows are hired as Research Associates by The New School.
Work Environment: This fellowship will work with the Airbel Impact Lab based in the IRC’s HQ in New York City. While this fellowship is remote, all Fellows must be physically located in the US.
Fellowship Length: This fellowship carries a maximum of 20 hours/week during the Fall 2025 semester (August 26, 2025 – December 2025). Continuation into Spring 2026 is potentially available.

The Client Responsiveness team, part of the Measurement Unit, is leading IRC’s work to develop and institutionalize best practice to put our clients at the center of our work. It works on operationalization of the accountability to affected populations (AAP) commitments and global standards on community engagement. The Client Responsiveness team supports the right of people affected by crisis to participate in and shape the decisions that affect them. As stated in Strategy 100 (S100), our organizational Ambition is that “our clients have greater influence over program design and delivery”. The Client Responsiveness team works on different workstreams that includes, but not limited to, data driven decision making, fully functioning feedback mechanisms (development of tools on CommCare, PowerBI, PowerApps), client centered communication and advocacy.
