Priya Singh Nelson holds a master’s degree in International Affairs from The New School University’s Julien J. Studley Graduate Program in International Affairs. Her current research focuses on issues related to irregular migration, border securitization and political conflicts in the Horn of Africa. Priya’s Master’s thesis, “Between Narrative and Borders: The Impact of Labor Migration on Ethiopia’s Returnees” (2018), focused on the consequences of rapid urbanization, unemployment and demographic transition in Ethiopia. Born in India, Priya was raised and educated in Peru, Colombia, Laos, Spain, Finland and Panama. Currently, she divides her time between Addis Ababa, New Delhi and New York.
