The Call for Papers: Politics of Race, Immigration and Ethnicity Consortium (University of Chicago, October 18, 2013)

The Politics of Race, Immigration and Ethnicity Consortium (PRIEC; for more information, please visit http://priec.org)) is now accepting proposals for its 35th meeting to be held at the University of Chicago campus on October 18, 2013.

We seek submissions from scholars (of any rank or status) trained in political science, sociology, history, law, philosophy, and related disciplines. We are interested in researchers doing new work on the political and social condition of marginalized groups, with particular focus on immigration, race, ethnicity, sexuality and social class. . It is our intention to include research presentations that draw from a wide variety of empirical methodologies, including papers that are theoretical in nature. To that end, presenters are invited (but not required) to pre-circulate papers or other materials in advance of the meeting in order to foster focused conversations.

The deadline for submission is August 15, 2013. Applications should include: 1) full contact details, 2) a title, 3) an abstract (250-500 words), 4) a list of any audio/visual requirements for your presentation, and 5) your paper or other materials if you would like to pre-circulate them in advance.

Additionally, if you are interested in attending the meeting but not presenting, please let us know as soon as possible.  All proposals and/or commitments-to-attend should be sent to Claudia Sandoval a

The event will begin in the morning of October 18 and continue through the late afternoon.  An informal reception and dinner will be held on the same date.

The University of Chicago is located fifteen minutes away from Midway Airport (MDW). Details on the location on campus, lodging options and schedule will be forthcoming.

Some financial support may be available for travel and hotel to graduate student presenters, scholars on the job market, and other contingent faculty, as well as an as-needed and limited basis.
