The Mexican President and the American President: Accommodation at the Border

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador Manuel (known by his initials AMLO) took office in January of this year. A self-described “man of the left,” López Obrador has chosen not to confront Donald Trump on US immigration policy. Who is AMLO, and what accounts for his–perhaps surprising–stance toward Trump Administration actions at the border?
