The Zolberg Institute Visiting Scholar Call for Applications 2016

The Zolberg Institute Visiting Scholar Call for Applications

The Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility (ZIMM) welcomes applications for the position of Visiting Scholar for the 2016-2017 academic year, from individuals whose research, teaching and work intersects the fields of migration studies and mobility, broadly construed. With that, we are accepting applications from scholars who are committed to the research philosophy of the Instituteand the thematic and topical interests that the institute aims to foster.

Visiting Scholars are expected to present their ongoing research at least once during the academic year, and engage regularly in the life of the institute (i.e. attend lecture series events, join and participate in a working group or research cluster and aid in the development of or submit work to the works-in-progress series). This is an appointment as an affiliate of ZIMM (i.e. library/institutional access, help with visas, intellectual community). The duration of the visiting scholarship is one academic year starting Fall 2016.

By April 4th, 2016, please complete the ZIMM Visiting Scholar Application Form and submit the following to migration@newschool.edu:

  • An academic CV
  • A two-page statement of interest that covers previous and ongoing research initiatives, your fit and commitment to the ZIMM mission, goals and academic & intellectual life.
  • An acceptance letter/confirmation of external grant or a statement indicating plans to apply for funding.
  • Names and email addresses of two referees that can speak to your work upon request.
If you have any questions regarding your application please do not hesitate to contact us atmigration@newschool.edu.

** If you are a prospective applicant of a grant (such as some Fulbright programs) that would come into effect in the 2017-2018 academic year, and require a letter from the Zolberg Institute as part of your grant application process, please contact us.
