Searching for Cosmopolis: Living Together, Apart – 2/11/2020

Professor Joseph Heathcott’s Laboratories of the Global City examines spaces of encounter and the people who inhabit and shape them.  Using six neighborhoods remade by immigration over the last century (Jackson Heights in New York; Peckham in London; St. Gilles in Brussels; Belleville in Paris; San Telmo in Buenos Aires; and Beyoglu in Istanbul), he draws extensively on demographic data and life course narratives.  The project utilizes documentary photographic methods to show new spatial realities of each city.

Doors will open at 6:00pm.  The presentation will begin at 6:15pm.

Location: Klein Conference Room, 66 West 12th Street, Room 510, New York, NY 10011

This event is free and open to the public. Registration is requested here.

Joseph Heathcott is Professor of Urban Studies at Parsons School of Design.  He is a Zolberg Faculty Fellow.
