Student Fellows

The Zolberg Student Fellows program is a mentoring initiative for New School students interested in the topics of migration and mobility. We meet bi-monthly for sessions that feature research presentations, methods workshops by migration scholars and practitioners, meetings with partner organizations to share professional insights and opportunities for internship and collaboration, and opportunities for mentorship and feedback on your research and writing. We aim to create a shared community around engaged migration research at The New School.

All graduate and advanced undergraduate students interested in migration topics at the New School are eligible to apply. To apply, please submit this brief application form by Monday, Oct. 26.

PhD Writing Group

Join other PhD students in a bi-weekly workshop aimed at strengthening your writing.  The group meets Thursdays 10:00am-12:00pm ET.  Email Monica Salmon Gomez for more information or to join.

Visiting Scholars and Practitioners

Those interested in becoming Visiting Scholars/Practitioners should first complete this interest form.

Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility at The New School is pleased to announce a one-year postdoctoral fellowship for the 2027–2028 academic year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. This is an ideal opportunity for a recent Ph.D. graduate to join a leading New York City research and policy institute devoted to the study of migration and mobility in their broadest political, social, legal, historical, philosophical, economic, and global dimensions.

For this fellowship, the Zolberg Institute is particularly interested in candidates whose scholarship engages law and legal studies, broadly understood, and who bring legal questions into conversation with the study of migration and mobility. Relevant areas may include, but are not limited to, citizenship and nationality, borders and territoriality, migration governance, international law, human rights, constitutionalism, refugee and asylum law, colonialism and empire, race and inequality, international institutions, and global order.

Zolberg-IRC Fellowships

Paid fellowships available to matriculated graduate and PhD students at The New School. We are currently not accepting applications for this Fellowship program.
