New Migration Narratives: Current Challenges and Paths Forward

Monday, Oct 20, 2025

3:00 PM – 4:30 PM

In the current context of a politics that normalizes cruelty and violence against migrants and racialized groups at large, how can we think beyond polarization and dehumanization towards a shared politic?

Join Amarela Varela and Eileen Truaux, co-editors of Journalism and Human Mobility: Building a New Narrative on Migration, in conversation with Alex Aleinikoff and Alexandra Délano Alonso, co-editors of New Narratives of the Peopling of America as they discuss the challenges of current migration policies and debates, and how alternative narratives can gain space and support the ushering of new political horizons.
