Amarela Varela Huerta holds a Doctoral Degree in Sociology from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, a Specialization in Migration from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Communication Studies from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Since 2008, she works as a professor / researcher at the Academy of Communication and Culture of the Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México.
